superf{\'{\i}}cie. No entanto, o territ{\'o}rio boliviano tem
vez afetam tamb{\'e}m toda a bacia amaz{\^o}nica. O presente
trabalho pretende contribuir na constru{\c{c}}{\~a}o do
conhecimento das caracter{\'{\i}}sticas espaciais, temporais e
estat{\'{\i}}sticas da precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o segundo
superf{\'{\i}}cie do governo boliviano, como as vers{\~o}es
Analysis for Research and Applications, Climate Forecast System
precipita{\c{c}}{\~a}o TRMM3B42RT e o esquema combinado (CoSch)
no per{\'{\i}}odo 1999-2009 que os quatro produtos possuem
estimativas.
estat{\'{\i}}sticos tanto da estat{\'{\i}}stica quantitativa
Weather Research and Forecasting e os valores estimados do modelo
de superf{\'{\i}}cie GLDAS.
an{\'a}lise das caracter{\'{\i}}sticas do comportamento da
per{\'{\i}}odos dos eventos extremos.
maneira {\'e} poss{\'{\i}}vel compreender parcialmente as
carater{\'{\i}}sticas destes dois eventos extremos. ABSTRACT:
The daily precipitation description in Bolivia is a very rarely
studied topic, due in part to the surface observations scarcity.
Although the Bolivian territory have been affected by extreme
events such as droughts and floods that in turn affect also the
whole Amazon basin. The present work pretends to contribute to
building the knowledge up by performing a survey on the temporal,
spatial and statistical characteristics of daily precipitation
according to four datasets against the Bolivian precipitation
surface observations network during the 1999-2009 period since all
products have data. For the comparison the most recent versions of
the Modern Era Retrospective-Analysis for Research and
Applications, and the Climate Forecast System Reanalysis were
selected, also the TRMM3B42RT product and the new scheme developed
by merging surface observations and satellite estimations: CoSch.
The capacities and limitations of these four datasets were
determined for the 1999-2009 period by calculating quantitative
and categorical statistical indexes. CoSch outperformed the other
three datasets encouraging to apply to other fields of research.
Next, a comparison between the accumulated precipitation amounts
for a small watershed and the observed runoff was performed. This
time together with the known datasets, three mesoscale model runs
were added to the analysis and the surface runoff estimation of
the GLDAS model. It was found that the best correlation
coefficients were obtained by calculating with up to two months
lag. It was also possible to understand the watershed dynamics and
with those results identify and compare the capabilities of the
datasets involved. Once again CoSch was one of the best scored
datasets, together with the mesoscale model at the finest
horizontal resolution. Finally, the vertically integrated moisture
was calculated for the study period, and for both extreme events:
the drought of 2005 and the floods of 2008. For the reference
period the moisture flux showed a northern component that flows
along the eastern side of the Andes that allows moisture to
converge and generate precipitating systems. The moisture flux
during the drought of 2005 showed a western component that
prevented moisture to reach the Andes and hence generate
precipitating systems. On the other hand for the floods of 2008
the moisture flux showed an intensification that enhanced the
precipitating systems generation in the region.",
